following vessels are available for tours during Maritime Career Day:
NOAA
Ship Rainier
The Ranier is outfitted primarily for conducting hydrographic surveys in
support of nautical charting. The ship operates off the U.S.
Pacific Coast, and in Alaskan coastal waters.
SES
Propeller - Sea Scouts
The Sea Explorers are a branch of Boy Scouts that teaches high
school aged youth (male AND female) skills used in today marine
world. The Propeller places most value on diesel engine
engineering and repairing. We also teach the traditional sea
scout skills, such as: knot tying, navigation, splicing, and
small boat handling.
Fireboat
Chief Seattle (Engine 4)
The
Chief Seattle is part of the Seattle Fire Department and
is used for shore fires, servicing the boating community, and
disaster support.
T/V
Maritime Instructor - Seattle Maritime Academy
The
T/V Maritime Instructor was originally built as a Coast
Guard cutter for use in coastal patrol duties. The vessel is now
used for marine technical and vocational training.
Henrietta
Foss
The
Henrietta Foss is a 49-foot wooden-hull tugboat built in the Foss Tacoma
yard
in 1931. It worked in various Puget Sound ports until it was retired in 1984.
